ABOUT MICAH
Micah Demke's art is both provocative and personal in a way that can resonate across diverse backgrounds and spans multiple generations. As an ex-Morman, ex-drug addict and ex-husband his perspective allows him to tell stories through his work of both the pain and beauty of life.
Micah was raised as a Mormon and throughout his childhood he struggled to feel like he truly belonged. His family moved from state to state and this furthered his sense of fitting not in with what he considered "normal" people. As he approached the end of his teenage years he found his way out of the Mormon religion and set out on a journey of personal discovery that is still continuing to this very day.
For many years Micah worked as a NYC Union Carpenter and devoted his life as the sole provider for his wife and three children. Throughout this time he always found moments to work on his art and has formed a variety of ways to create. His signature style creates a cohesive thread across multiple mediums including painting, drawing and sculptural elements alike.
